Wellington Visitors Guide

Wellington is a city that many say grows on you with time.  Despite being the capital of New Zealand, it’s a lot more compact than Auckland, is less crowded, and everything is within the magic “10 minutes” : 10 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the hills, and 10 minutes to the shops.  Wellington is surrounded by natural features that offer the best activities within minutes, whether it be coast, mountains, wildlife or underwater.

After visiting Wellington a few times, then living there it reminded me a bit of trips to Melbourne – you really need some local knowledge to get the most out of it.  Many travellers will pass through on their way from Taupo to the South Island ferries, see Te Papa, and move on but there’s so much more to discover.

At the risk of giving away some local knowledge, read the posts below for ideas of how to make the most of your time in Wellington, and see the best of what’s on offer.
